JEWELRY CARE TIPS

Dust, pollution, cosmetics and perfumes all conspire to dull the surface of gold and sterling silver. We suggest that you take the time to properly store and care for your jewelry. We recommend applying perfume or other sprayed substances before putting on your jewelry. Jewelry should always be removed prior to showering.

CARING FOR SOLID 18K JEWELRY

Solid 18K gold is a durable, precious metal that resists tarnish and holds up beautifully over time with simple care. To keep it looking its best, remove your jewelry before swimming, bathing, or applying perfumes and lotions, as chemicals and lotion buildup can dull its shine over time.

Be particularly careful of chlorine. Chlorine, especially at high temperatures, can damage or discolor gold alloys, so avoid wearing your jewelry while using chlorine bleach or while in a pool or hot tub.

To clean solid 18K gold jewelry, wash gently with warm water and a mild soap, using a soft-bristled brush if needed to reach detailed areas, then dry thoroughly with a soft cotton or microfiber cloth. Because it's solid gold rather than a plated finish, there's no coating to strip so occasional gentle cleaning will only help it keep its shine, unlike gold dipped pieces where cleaning must be avoided.

When not being worn, store your piece separately in a soft pouch or lined box to prevent scratching from contact with other jewelry.

CARING FOR STERLING SILVER JEWELRY

Sterling silver naturally tarnishes over time with exposure to air and moisture—this is a normal and organic occurrence. To keep your piece looking its best, polish it gently with a soft silver polishing cloth as needed to restore shine and remove tarnish. Avoid chemical dips or abrasive cleaners, which can dull the finish or damage any detailing.

Be particularly careful of chlorine. Chlorine, especially at high temperatures, can permanently damage or discolor your silver jewelry. Avoid wearing silver jewelry while using chlorine bleach or while in a pool or hot tub. Tarnish is also accelerated in a humid environment, and oily salts from fingers can contribute to tarnish as well.

When not being worn, store your piece in a dry place, ideally in an airtight bag or pouch, to slow tarnishing between wears.
